Introduction
ProrelaxinH2(RLN2)isamemberoftheinsulingenesuperfamily.Thisfamilywhichisproducedbytheovary,targetsthemammalianreproductivesystemtoripenthecervix,elongatethepubicsymphysisandinhibituterinecontraction.Itmayalsohaveotherrolesinboostingspermmotility,regulatingbloodpressure,controllingheartrateandreleasingoxytocinandvasopressin.RLN2isapeptidehormonelinkedtoseveraltherapeuticallyrelevantphysiologicaleffects,includingregulationofcollagenmetabolismandmultiplevascularcontrolpathways.TheactiveformoftheRLN2proteinconsistsofanAchainandaBchainlinkedbydisulfidebonds.
