Killercellimmunoglobulin-likereceptor2DL4,alsoknownasKIR2DL4ispartofthekillercellIg-likereceptor(KIR)family.KIRproteinswiththelongcytoplasmicdomaintransduceinhibitorysignalsthroughanimmunetyrosine-basedinhibitorymotif(ITIM),whereasKIRproteinswhichcontaintheshortcytoplasmicdomain,lacktheITIMmotifandasasubstituteassociatewiththeTYROproteintyrosinekinasebindingproteintotransduceactivatingsignals.KIR2DL4stimulatesNKcellstoproduceIFN-gammaandstimulationwithIL-2upregulatescellsurfaceexpressiononCD56dimcellsandleadstotheinhibitionofthecytolyticNKcellfunction.
