Introduction
H7N9 is a strain of avian influenza virus or bird flu virus which is a species of Influenza virus A. Avian influenza A H7 viruses generally circulate amongst avian populations with some variants known to sporadically infect humans. An H7N9 virus was initially reported to have infected humans in March 2013, in China. It is known that influenza tends to occur during the winter months, and the 2nd wave, which began in October, was fueled by a surge in poultry production planned for Chinese New Year feasts which began at the end of January. WHO has identified H7N9 as "...an unusually dangerous virus for humans." The majority of the cases resulted in severe respiratory illness, with a mortality rate of approximately 30%. It has been determined that many of the human cases of H7N9 seem to have a link to live bird markets. Since H7N9 virus does not kill poultry, it makes observation much more difficult.
Description
Recombinant Full-Length H7N9 Anhui 01/2013 is glycosylated with N-linked sugars, produced using baculovirus vectors in insect cells.
